---|---|---|---|
Entrapment by fire. | Members and those visiting the site may not get out of the building in a fire | - Overall layout is very open plan - Rear fire exit to be unlocked when space is occupied |
No emergency lighting is in the building as received, to be fitted, by a competent person. Jim Allanson to drive forward. Due 2019-01-10 |
Loss of Hackspace due to fire | Financial loss to hackspace due to fire spreading | - Members to bring mobile phones to phone emergency services if required when using the space. - Currently one small fire extinguisher. Note Safety of people is the priority, raising the alarm is always the first action, people should only fight the fire if they know how to do so (e.g. having had training in their place of work) and are not taking risks by doing so (eg must remain between the fire and the exit). |
- Fire Action notice and address of space to be put by front and rear exits. A.Smithson Due 2018-09-29 - A Smithson and a trustee to define what extinguishers are required and produce service plan, due 2018-09-29 |
Loss of Hackspace due to fire | Hazard of fire from unattended charging batteries | - Do not charge LiPo batteries in the space when unoccupied. | |
Unaware of fire | Members and those visiting the site may not be aware of a fire. | - Battery smoke alarm is deemed appropriate for the size of the unit and its open plan single floor layout. - Fire alarm points by exits. - Unit size it such that people could be alerted by voice of a fire, additionally fire alarm notification points are located by the exits this will ensure everyone hears as quick as possible eg if someone is in the toilet. |
- Existing smoke alarm found to be unserviceable. Jim Allanson to get and fit new alarm. - A Smithson and or Tom to check existing system or fit stand alone alarms. |
Not knowing who was in the building | Members or those visiting the site left inside in case of fire. | - Assembly point noted on fire notice at building exits - The space is not large and day to day does not have many members in the space so in an emergency those present know who is in or out of the building. |
